About the book
With extra time on his hands at the end of an exhausting eight-day business trip, a successful middle-aged businessman, happily married for sixteen years to the woman of his dreams, does something he's never done before-or even contemplated-for reasons not entirely clear even to himself. He invites a prostitute to his hotel room. What he expected to be a brief, insignificant sexual liaison ends up turning his life upside down, embroiling him with a deranged Russian mobster determined to destroy his career, his financial security, the safety of his wife and two teenage daughters-and his life. This is the story of Nick Steele, a modern day Everyman, hard-working, responsible, devoted to his family-who faces the ultimate price for a sudden, and uncharacteristically impulsive lapse in judgment. Overnight, Nick's protected, safe, and orderly life is thrown into turmoil. All that he's worked so hard and methodically to build and protect, his family, his career, his wealth, is suddenly on the brink of destruction-unless, that is, he takes matters quickly into his own hands.

The book is available locally at Barrett Book Store in Darien or Elm Street Book Shop in New Canaan and online at www.bn.com or www.amazon.com.

Carl Nichols Jr. will be in attendance for the Westport Walk on October 17, 2010 and will be holding a book sale and signing. The event is at Sherwood Island State Park in Westport, CT. Registration opens at 10am and the 1 mile walk will begin at 11am.
